@John
Thank you, it was my goal to blow it out of the water! It truly is amazing how easy it is to make connections and meet new people.

@Erin
It is so important to start creating an online presence because employers do the same exact thing when they get your application, they search for you online! I will definitely check out your article, thank you!

Trace,

Excellent advice! I feel like all I tell my clients is 'get online and build your network... it works so much better (and sometimes quicker!)'. I just wrote a similar article about the power of online networking linkedin profile development

I think people still don't realize how important it is especially at the beginning stages of your job search-- because like you said, at some point you will have the clout to connect with anyone directly because of your reputation.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite topics, so I appreciate the post. :)

As a believer in the 6 Degrees of Separation you've just blown that out of the water with the new 3! The world, it seems, is getting smaller in that we are nearer to each other through viral connections. And it is all about 'connections' - they mean the same pretty much anyway!!

I use the social networks like Facebook and Twitter and am amazed at who I can connect with on a level unlike anything ever before. In this way there is almost no separation at all anymore except that between me and my laptop On button! Let's see where it's all going but for now I like it. After all we're talking here and it can't be a bad thing if more humans did that a whole lot more often!!!
