Thanks for your comment, but let me clarify… when I said that if you participate in discussions I will search you and read what you write to see if you are participating at a high level, I was strictly referring to the content. If you participate and are participating at a low level where you are argumentative and not acting in a professional manner, THAT will hurt you. While it's always good to see candidates who are passionate about their field enough to be on LinkedIn talking about it, (and it does give a bit of an edge) non-particpation in groups is not a job search killer. I hope that helps!
