Job: Looking for an experienced graphic design artist

Opportunity: is a nationally recognized and award winning online toolset that helps individuals put their best foot forward on the web. We are looking for an experienced designer to storyboard and design the next iteration of our web platform.

What will you do?

You will storyboard the entire user experience at from start to finish. By the end of this project, you will have re-designed user flows and user interfaces from our signup process to our actual toolset to payment, creating one cohesive user experience that keeps people coming back to our web application.

You will work closely with the management team by making design changes in real-time as we flesh out the next iteration of our interface. We’re a passionate four-person team and love projecting designs on the wall and laying out storyboards on corkboard to come up with the best user experience. Your role will be to breathe life into our ideas by mocking them up and participating in the brainstorming process.

How will you get paid?

You will either be paid by the hour or on contract for a series of multiple-hour design sessions. You need to be able to take on large periodic projects and have your own transportation to our office at the Syracuse Technology Garden. We’re looking for a long-term relationship with a local freelance graphic designer that will work with us on a regular basis to bring our product ideas to life.

  • You can communicate design ideas through pencil sketches, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • Knowledge of XHTML/CSS is preferred (but you will NOT be coding)
  • Superior English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • You adore A-List-Apart and appreciate designs by Jason Santa Maria
  • You advocate for users during requirements and design discussions

Are you a good fit?

  • You love fast-paced design
  • You obsess over simplicity, clarity and ease of use

  • You organize your layers and folders, not because other people will see it, but because you take your work seriously

You should be confident enough to defend your ideas but not confrontational, we’re not looking for a diva nor are we looking for a pushover. You stand behind your designs to defend them but you are willing to admit their shortfalls. You understand that no one person will create a great user experience, instead it will come from analytics, best practices and patience. You should also provide us with a picture of an orange from Google Image Search. We’re serious. If you send in a resume/material without a picture of an orange, it goes right in the trash. We just like to know you’re paying attention.
